Interchurch Families

Interchurch families have been part of the fabric of society and the church for centuries. Today, interchurch families are gathering together, providing mutual support, and calling and enabling the churches to look not only at the needs of such families, but to begin recognizing them as a gift to the churches, for the healing of disunity.

 

Chemin Neuf Community

The Chemin Neuf Community is a Roman Catholic Community with an ecumenical vocation, which grew out of a prayer group in Lyon, France, in 1973. It currently has around 2000 members in over 30 countries. Couples, families and celibates, men and women, have chosen the adventure of community life to follow Christ poor and humble, in order to serve the Church and the world.

The Focolare Movement forms part of the phenomenon of the blossoming of ecclesial movements. It was first approved by the Holy See in 1962. The Focolare Movement has also been officially recognised in different ways by the Orthodox Church, by the Anglican and Lutheran Churches, by representatives of other religions and by a number of international organisations.

Marriage Encounter

A "Marriage Encounter" is a weekend away from home, family and responsibilities where in a comfortable, secluded environment a couple is guided in the discovery of new techniques of communicating and sharing with one another. It is not a retreat, but it is a program designed to give couples the opportunity to examine their lives together, their weaknesses and strong points, their attitudes toward each other and toward their families.

Teams of Our Lady - Equipes Notre Dame

An international movement of Christian married couples, chartered in France in 1947. The purposes of the Movement and Team life are: growth in the spiritual life of the couple and family through a program of prayer and study; growth in communication between husband and wife with a developing intimacy through shared prayer and regular in-depth talks; a way of life designed to make their Christian faith a daily living experience. Each Team is made up of 4 to 7 couples and a Catholic priest.
